He Will Not Kneel to Error (For the Man in the Pew – No. 1)

The Catholic Trumpet | July 23, 2025

The phrase was quiet, but it landed heavy. It came from Fr. Paul Robinson of the new SSPX during a public defense of the Society’s decision to accept priests with doubtful Novus Ordo ordinations without always conditionally reordaining them. With measured tone, he referenced Bishop Fellay, spoke of trust in the bishops, and then dismissed the growing concern of faithful Catholics with one phrase:

“For the man in the pew.”

The meaning was clear. Do not question. Do not search. Leave it to the superiors.

But that is not the spirit of Catholic Tradition. And it is not the voice of +Archbishop Lefebvre.

The man in the pew is not a passive observer. He is the father who carries the Faith into his home. He is the mother who teaches catechism by candlelight. He is the convert who walked out of the Novus Ordo and will not go back. He is the one who kneels when no one else does. Who prays when the Church seems silent. Who asks hard questions because his soul, and his family’s souls, depend on the answers.

We are not theologians. We are not scholars. But we are Catholics. And we remember what our ancestors did when the Faith was threatened. The peasants of the Vendée. The Cristeros. The recusants in the dark days of England. They did not wait for permission to stay faithful. They did not hide behind titles. They stood, poor and unnoticed, but firm.

It was not rebellion. It was love of the Faith.

We are not against bishops. We are not above priests. But when silence becomes policy and compromise replaces clarity, it is not wrong to speak. It is right.

Because the man in the pew still believes what the Church has always taught. And he will not be quiet just because it makes others comfortable.

He is awake. He is watching. And he will not kneel to error.

"So let us be confident, let us not be unprepared, let us not be outflanked, let us be wise, vigilant, fighting against those who are trying to tear the faith out of our souls and morality out of our hearts, so that we may remain Catholics, remain united to the Blessed Virgin Mary, remain united to the Roman Catholic Church, remain faithful children of the Church."- Abp. Lefebvre

We were told by the SSPX we needed to be conditionally confirmed in 1996 because the Conciliar Church changed the form and matter of the sacraments making them invalid according to the council of Trent.
the form = are the words
      the matter = the oil.
Both matter and form in the sacrament of Confirmation were changed by the Conciliar Church.
So how is it the SSPX accepts the Conciliar Church changes of the matter and form now in the sacraments and
since when?  Fr. Robinson said in the beginning of the video they accept the new rites. He was at that point in the video speaking of the rites of Baptism, Confirmation and ordinations.
The SSPX has changed.

BTW, has the SSPX ever officially told  the people in the pews of the changes in the SSPX positions?  That since 2012 the SSPX officially accepts the new Mass and new sacraments of the Conciliar Church, and the new 1983 Code of Canon Law with a signed Doctrinal Declaration sent to Rome by Bishop Fellay?

Doctrinal Declaration #7 says: We (SSPX) declare that we recognize the validity of the Sacrifice of the Mass and the sacraments legitimately promulgated  by Popes Paul VI and John Paul II.

Not all who attend the SSPX are aware of the 2012 Doctrinal Declaration and the changes of the SSPX.
Maybe that's why so many SSPXers are wondering what the big deal is about here.  Well, it's about the SSPX making deals without telling you the people, the people who pay the bills for the SSPX!   It's about gradually walking traditional Catholics into accepting the Conciliar Church without informing them of the plan.  It's about doing the opposite of what Archbishop Lefebvre said.

Do you wonder why the SSPX hasn't consecrated bishops yet despite the fact there are only 2 remaining and those two ain't getting any younger?  Do you wonder who's going to choose any future bishop(s)?   Will it be Rome?  Or will the sspx'ers be resorted to look to the local bishops for future confirmations and ordinations?
Blind obedience on the part of the clergy and faithful both, 67 years ago is how this crisis we are in now happened.
