For those who may be unfamiliar, Fr. Roger Calmel was a staunch defender of Tradition, much admired by Archbishop Lefebvre and the traditional SSPX.
We are delighted to learn of a newly published English translation of his Brief Apologia for the Church of the Ages which can be found, for example here, on Amazon.
We are grateful to pass on a few of his works here on The Catacombs which keep the current crisis of the Church in a traditional perspective:

“Archbishop Lefebvre held Father Calmel in high esteem. In March 1991, at Econe, the night before his hospitalization, he said with great joy to a priest of the Society of Saint Pius X: 'The Sisters of Brignoles have just given me a copy of the reissue of The Mysteries of the Kingdom of Grace. What a treasure this book is! Father Emmanuel and Father Calmel are two authors whom I highly recommend. They are deeply Thomistic and they led in the Church, each in their own time, the same battle as ours.'” (Le Sel de la terre, No.12, May 1995, p.1)
“Mgr. Lefebvre estimait beaucoup le père Calmel. En mars 1991 à Écône, la veille de son hospitalisation, il disait avec une grande joie à un prêtre de la Fraternité Saint-Pie X: 'Les soeurs de Brignoles viennent de m'offrir un exemplaire de la réédition des Mystères du royaume de la grace. - Quel trésor que ce livre!
