German [District] Superior: FSSPX Wants Rome's Approval for Ordination of New Bishops - Stone - 11-22-2024 German Superior: FSSPX Wants Rome's Approval for Ordination of New Bishops
gloria.tv | November 21, 2024 The Priestly Society of Saint Pius X will "try everything to obtain the approval of Rome for possible episcopal ordinations," the FSSPX superior for Germany, Father Stefan Pfluger, told the weekly newspaper Tagespost on November 21. Following the death of Monsignor Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, the FSSPX has two bishops. Before resorting to the means of episcopal consecration, a necessity must be evident, said Father Pfluger. "The hierarchy must understand that we are not building a counter-hierarchy." And: "We don't want to separate ourselves from Rome, we belong to the Church." Father Pfluger emphasized that the FSSPX sees itself as "under the Pope": "This goes so far that we exclude people who hold sedevacantist theses, which in the past has sometimes been associated with great losses for the Fraternity." |
